Getting There & Getting Around

The recently expanded and renovated Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) offers excellent connectivity for commercial international flights with charters arriving daily from Canada, the U.S and Europe as well as South America.

Taxi
In Puerto Vallarta taxis are abundant and hailing one is as simple as waving. Taxis are relatively cheap as long as you agree on a price before you go.

Buses
Buses are owned privately and stops can be identified by their blue signs with a picture of a bus. Bus fare is cheap at about 6.5 pesos ($0.50) and can take you downtown or to the airport or many other destinations. Ask your concierge for the appropriate route.

Rental Cars
Rental cars can be arranged at the airport or at most hotels as well as in the downtown area. In order to rent a vehicle you must be 25 years old and have a valid drivers license and credit card. (You can rent if you are 21+ but are subject to a young drivers charge.) Local drivers are very aggressive and roads can be difficult to maneuver as all road signs are in Spanish.
