Marseille, A Quaint Town

Marseille, as the second largest city in France holds true to its magical views and pristine fishing village. The second you touch down in Marseille you’ll notice a few things off the bat. Firstly, you’ll be immersed in all things related to fishing. As you walk along The Old Port (Vieux-Port), you’ll see boats swaying in the sea, restaurants serving the freshest fish and early morning fish markets that the locals can’t wait to dive into.

I have to be quite honest with you, the few days that I traveled to Marseille; I fell in love with the city at first step. Running along the port at the crack of dawn is like running into a plethora of locals bartering with the fisherman. The early morning markets are where its at. From everything to fresh fish to old antiques, you’ll surely pick out a few things you can bring back home to show the family the unique antiques you can score at along the shore.

Secondly, Marseille is like your stepping back into an old country, with a modern twist. With century old buildings, museums, a culturally creative cathedrals and churches anywhere you look while in Marseille will have you mesmerized. Just walking through the streets is like an explosion of culture and history everywhere you look. Take to the long trek up to the top of the mountain to see the picturesque view of the city and sea below.

Finally if you love spending the day exploring the ins and outs of a place, than Marseille is your spot. Explore its beaches, explore its caves, its century old buildings, its shopping, its fresh food and delicacies, and all in all explore its perfection. Marseille boasts picturesque views and a whole world of France to explore.
